Roof Damage by Storm in Chesapeake

During a storm, a school roof began leaking due to heavy rains and high winds.  It is important to inspect your roof, eaves, and siding prior to each season.  Here are some preventive measures to take before a storm if you suspect your building may be at risk:

• Place wooden blocks under furniture to raise from off the floor
• Remove any debris from storm drains to avoid a water backup
• Clear out rain gutters to allow for water to flow away from your building
• Place sandbags around doors and windows to help keep water from entering your building
